In the village called Beydili, people have to follow a tradition when they want to get married. A particular thing is that, when a man wants to get married to a woman, he has to ask for her family’s permission. He must go to her home and meet her family with an important and respectful person in the village, and it is he who starts talking about the wedding and asks the girl`s family if they agree with the marriage. The girl's family must remain quiet, because they have a week to think about the wedding and if they want their girl to marry that boy or not. The boy`s family must send a gift to the girl’s house. The gift usually contains something to eat like baklava or halva. After that, the girl`s family decide whether they agree with this wedding or not. If they do agree, they must open the gift and put something else in the box and send it to the boy`s family. If they don’t agree, they must send the gift unopened -exactly as they received it.
If they agree, they must go to see the girl’s family again and the boy must put a wedding ring on the bride`s finger. And then, the wedding begins and they get married.
And they live happily ever after…
